YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 30, ARMENPRESS. Heads of CSTO member countries paid special attention to Republic of Armenia President Serzh Sargsyan’s address at the summitof the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) inDushanbe, during which Sargsyan voiced about Azerbaijan’s inciting tension on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border. CSTO Deputy Secretary General Valery Semerikov said the aforementioned when referring to the remark of a journalist that CSTO did not in any way respond to Azerbaijani actions of inciting tension on the Armenia-Azerbaijan border.
Semerikov said that Defense Minister of Armenia had presented the issue during the meeting with Foreign Ministers of CSTO member countries at the UN summit. He said that relevant decision of CSTOCollective Security Council was necessary to put combined forces into action adding that the absence of a relevant CSTO reaction was possibly preconditioned by the fact that not much time had passed yet.
Semerikov concluded that the Armed Forces and national security system of the Republic of Armenia are capable of giving an adequate response to the provocations in the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict zone.
