PM of Armenia: Government of Armenia is always focused on developing sports and promoting healthy lifestyle

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 29, ARMENPRESS. Prime Minister of Armenia Hovik Abrahamyan received on September 29 President of the National Olympic Committees (NOCs) Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad Al-Sabah and President of the European Olympic Committee Patrick Hickey. President of Armenia's National Olympic Committee Gagik Tsarukyan was also present at the meeting.

As “Armenpress” was informed by the Information and Public Relations Department of the Government of the Republic of Armenia the head of the Government greeted the guests and thanked for arriving in our country and participating in the jubilee events dedicated to the 25th anniversary of Armenia's National Olympic Committee foundation.

Hovik Abrahamyan attached importance to cooperation between Armenia's National Olympic Committee and Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC), European Olympic Committee, expressing confidence that the cooperation would continue developing also in the future.

The Prime Minister highly valued Armenia's National Olympic Committee President Gagik Tsarukyan’s immense contribution to sport development in our country in recent years, led by whom Armenia's National Olympic Committee achieved serious success in the sphere of sports and today enjoys the respect and trust of international Olympic community. The Prime Minister also emphasized that the Government of Armenia always kept the development of sports and healthy lifestyle promotion in the centre of its attention adding that until now Armenia had had 13 Olympic champions.

Presidents of Association of National Olympic Committees and European Olympic Committee thanked the Prime Minister for warm reception and noted that they were very glad to be in Armenia and participate in the opening ceremony of Olympic village built in Yerevan.

At the end of the meeting President of the European Olympic Committee Patrick Hickey presented PM Hovik Abrahamyan with a souvenir symbolizing the European Olympic Committee.
