YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 29, ARMENPRESS. There are not Armenians among the refugees who made their road to more welfare countries, and even If there exist Armenians among the Syrian refugees, they can be counted on the fingers. The Armenian Community has been able to reach to Lebanon, Armenia or other European countries by better roads till now. Bishop Armash Nalbandian,Primate of the Armenian Dioceseof Damascus mentioned about this in the interview with “Armenpress”. Now we represent Bishop Armash’s interview, who arrived in Armenia to be present in Muron benediction ceremony:
“Bishop Armash, what is the condition of the Armenians both from the psychological and socio-economic side, who are living in Syria at this moment of war?
“Unfortunately, a new stream of refugees and emigrants was raised and everyone knocks the doors of Europe and other welfare countries to find their new fate there. In all of this, we are anxious that people are disappointed and discouraged, and that they are willing to reach the desired coasts by swim or by crossing forests and mountainous borders at the same time sacrificing their lives.”
“Is there any information about Armenians, who are among those, who move to Europe by dangerous ways?
“According to our data and our people testimonies, fortunately there are not Armenians among the groups, which cross rivers or forests by hard means, and even if there exist some Armenians among the mentioned groups, they can be counted on the fingers. Fortunately, the members of our community have been able to find an opportunity to reach the estimated place by better means: By car and by plane”.
