YEREVAN, AUGUST 4, ARMENPRESS. Swiss authorities say customs officials at Zurich airport have seized 262 kilograms (413 thousand USD) of ivory that three Chinese men had dispatched from Tanzania. Armenpress reports the aforementioned citing the Associated Press. According to the latter, the ivory was found during a security check on July 6. The suitcases also contained 1 kilogram (2.2 pounds) of lion fangs and claws.

TASS Russian News Agency informs that that the number of elephants in Tanzania has decreased drastically in the recent 5 years. It decreased from 110 thousand in 2009 to 43 thousand in 2014. The main reason for this is poaching.
