Welsh First Minister Vaughan Gething steps down

YEREVAN, JULY 16, ARMENPRESS. Vaughan Gething, the Welsh First Minister, has resigned just four months after starting his job. His resignation comes after four members in his team quit their jobs and called for him to do the same, BBC reports.

In the short time that Vaughan Gething was Wales' First Minister, he has been criticized from a company whose owner has been convicted of environmental offences, and has faced a vote of confidence which he lost, the report adds.

Gething has been criticized over the transparency of his disclosures to the COVID-19 inquiry from his time as health minister.

In statement, he denied any wrongdoing, saying accusations have been "untrue".

The First Minister leads the Senedd Cymru, which is Wales' devolved parliament. This is where important decisions are made for Wales, on things such as health, education and transport.
