Syrian and Kurdish troops oust IS out of Hasakah

YEREVAN, JULY 28, ARMENPRESS. The Syrian Government troops, together with the Kurdish troops, have ousted the terrorists of the “Islamic State” out of Hasakah city located in the northeastern part of Syria. Fierce clashes continued for nearly a month. As “Armenpress” reports, citing Arabic media, Hasakah is the capital of the Hasakah Governorate which has great strategic importance and is located in the vicinity of Iraqi territories that are under the control of the IS. The SyrianObservatory for Human Rights informed about this.

Clashes continue in the southern districts of the city.

IS terrorists had launched an onslaught on the southern parts of the city, which were under the control of the Government forces, on June 25. Kurdish defense units took part in the military operations, which controlled the northern part of Hasakah. During the onslaught dozens of causalities were registered in all sides.

According to data of the UN, more than 220 thousand people have died during the Syrian conflict.
