Karekin II hopes Germany will recognize Armenian Genocide

ETCHMIADZIN, JUNE 24, ARMENPRESS: The Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians Karekin II had a farewell meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to the Republic of Armenia Reiner Morell at the Holy See of Mother Etchmiadzin, who is completing his diplomatic mission in our country. The press service of the Holy See of Mother Etchmiadzin informed Armenpress that during the meeting Karekin II highlighted the close ties between the Embassy and the Holy See, as well as the efforts to strengthen the Armenian-German relations.

Touching upon the recognition of the Armenian Genocide by the German Bundestag, the Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians expressed hope that the ongoing discussion will bring to a positive outcome. Karekin II stressed that the recognition and condemnation of the Armenian Genocide by Germany will serve an example for other states and nations, fostering the prevention of such tragedies in the humans’ life.

In his turn, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Germany to the Republic of Armenia Reiner Morell expressed gratitude to the Catholicos for the warm attitude and cooperation.
