ECHR satisfies “Sargsyan v. Azerbaijan” claim

YEREVAN, JUNE 17, ARMNEPRESS: The European Court of Human Rights on June 16 adopted a decision on “Sargsyan v. Azerbaijan” claim, stating that Azerbaijan violated several provisions of the European Convention on Human Rights. Armenpress reports that the decision of ECHR says in particular that Azerbaijan violated the 1st (property protection), 8th (right of respect for private and family life) and the 13th (right to compensation) articles of the Convention.

By the decision of the Court, Azerbaijan was obliged to provide for the rights of Sargsyan, though did not do it.“The fact that the peaceful negotiations continue, does not release the government of the responsibility for his actions”, - says the decision of the Court. The verdict of the European Court of Human Rights states that the rights of Sargsyan should be recovered and he should be paid compensation.
