Armenian MPs visit Damascus

YEREVAN, JUNE 4, ARMENPRESS: A meeting with the delegation of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia, arrived in Syria, was held on June 3 at the Syrian Parliament in Damascus. Armenpress was informed about it from the Facebook page of Gandzasar Newspaper. The members of the Syrian Parliament stressed the importance of the historical relations of Armenia and Syria and considered necessary the cooperation of the two countries on the interparliamentary level to present the real picture of the Syrian crisis to the international community and raise the idea of necessity of fighting against terrorism in the international instances.

The Head of the National Reconciliation Committeeat the Syria’s Parliament Omar Ossi stated that the Syrian Armenian community is an integral component of the Syrian structure. Then he said that the Parliament of Syria condemned the Armenian Genocide, planned and committed by the Ottoman Empire, which aimed at eradicating the Armenian people of his historical homeland and spread around the world.

In his turn, the President of the Syrian Human Rights and Freedom Council stated that the same enemy, which subjected the Armenians to genocide, today threatens the Syrian people, therefore we are of the same destiny in the struggle against the same enemy, threatening the freedom and humanity.
