YEREVAN, 13 MAY, ARMENPRESS. The Government of Turkey must face with its own history and recognize the Armenian Genocide.
On 13 May, German-Turkish intellectual, the representative of the leftist faction of the Hamburg region Hasan Burkucoğlu stated this during the meeting with the reporters. "Generally, the only criterion to be called a man is having a clear position on the Armenian Genocide issue. What happened in Ottoman Empire in 1915 was genocide, and it is indisputable. The worst thing, which a person can do for others, took place in Ottoman Empire in the early 20th century, and the Turkish Government has not only participated in that crime, but also Turks, Kurds and other Muslim people, choking off an entire nation in its fatherland. The Government of Turkey must face with its own history and recognize the Armenian Genocide,” as “Armenpress” reports, Hasan Burkucoğlu underscored.
He underscored, that he doesn’t separate himself from that crime, which was held in the Ottoman Turkey. According to him, he, his family and his ancestors were involved in that crime. "I consider myself that we are descendants of a nation, who has a shameful biography,” the Turkish intellectual emphasized.
