Azerbaijan has always taken a step back at the last minute before a final settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict

YEREVAN, 8 MAY, ARMENPRESS. During a press conference at the US National Press Club,Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Edward Nalbandyanreaffirmed Armenia’s willingness to collaborate with the three co-chairing countries of the OSCE Minsk Group to settle the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. As “Armenpress” reports, Nalbandyan mentioned that Armenia was leading negotiations for an exclusively peaceful settlement of the conflict.

“Armenia has expressed its willingness to move forward with the five principles for the solution that were proposed by the presidents of the three co-chairing countries, including the US, France and Russia in L’Aquila, Muscoca, Deauville, Los Cabos and Eniskilen. At the same time, we express our support to the proposals of the co-chairing countries in relation to taking confidence-building measures, including maintenance of the ceasefire regime, dislocation of snipers from the Line of Contact and the creation of commissions to examine the ceasefire violations,”Nalbandyan mentioned.

The minister regretted to state that, unlike Armenia, Azerbaijan refuses to take confidence-building measures and rejects the proposals made by the co-chairs.“We have been very close to the final settlement several times, but Azerbaijan has always taken a step back at the last minute. Azerbaijan has rejected all the proposals made by the co-chairing countries over the past six years, and the last time was at the Kazan Summit,”Nalbandyan recalled.
