Serj Tankian says System of a Down’s concert in Yerevan was a unique experience

YEREVAN, 25 APRIL, ARMENPRESS. Lead singer of the band System of a Down, Serj Tankian says the band’s concert in Yerevan was a special and unique experience. During an April 25 press conference at TUMO Center for Creative Technologies, Tankian emphasized that the band members didn’t expect to see the audience sing along with them in English.

“They had great impressions, and even one of the members changed the date of his flight to stay here longer. I’m the most illiterate musician. I didn’t learn about rock music, and I didn’t even attend piano lessons. Musical education is very important. The school of music of Komitas can become like the Julliard School where foreigners can come to Armenia and study music. When I started getting involved in music, it was not a choice. I was 15-20 years old when I came to the conclusion that it was my path in life,”Serj Tankian mentioned, as “Armenpress” reports.

Touching upon the Armenian Genocide, Tankian mentioned that by saying recognition we understand the Turkish government’s recognition and the path to justice.

When asked what had changed in Armenia over the past two years, Tankian said:“You tell me. I hadn’t been here for the past two years. I have come to check. I follow as much as I can.”
