YEREVAN, APRIL 22, ARMENPRESS: The mass killings of the Armenians in the Ottoman Turkey in the beginning of the 20thcentury in a word can be characterized as a planned and executed genocide. The famous British human rights barrister Geoffrey Robertson stated about it at the social and political global forum “Against the Crime of Genocide” held in Yerevan.
“What happened in the beginning of the 20thcentury in the Ottoman Turkey cannot but be called genocide. At those years the Armenian population was subject to mass killings. Their property was destroyed. Many churches were turned into mosques, which speaks of the fact the Turks were certain that the Armenians would never come back. And this is nothing more than a planned and executed genocide”, - said Robertson, Armenpress reports.
