YEREVAN, 11 APRIL, ARMENPRESS: The new mobile application will familiarize with the types of the broadleaf plants of Armenia and the South Caucasus and provide information about them. The «EcoSnap» program, which was recently awarded a grant, is still under development.
The director of program Vache Kirakosyan in a talk with Armenpress represented the essence of the future mobile application and applying areas. ““EcoSnap” is a mobile application which after capturing picture with the help of the phone camera, constructs a three-dimensional model and compares it with our created base and then defines what this plant is,” Vache Kirakosyan emphasized.
According to him, there are solutions in the world practice, but their accuracy is not so high. "We have found a solution that will allow us to provide information with high-precision about the plant. Our program is very wide and we are even thinking of developing a multitude services for the plant’s lovers. For instance, if they have any plant in their house, we suggest methods of caring about it. It may also be of interest to the ordinary tourist. I say it from my experience. I have gone to some countries, I have seen some plants, many local people do not even know what plant it is, and even if they know, they might give inaccurate information,” the director of program underlined.
