President Sargsyan showed relationship between genocide denial andrepetition of genocides with examples

YEREVAN, 10 APRIL, ARMENPRESS. The Armenian Genocide Centennial commemorative ceremonies won’t be anti-Turkish, but maximum efforts will be made to make Turkey recognize the Armenian Genocide. This is what President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan declared in an interview to “Together” television series of Russia’s “Mir” Television.

As “Armenpress” reports, President Sargsyan emphasized that the Armenian side isn’t planning on raising anti-Turkish hysteria. “This year we’ll be holding several ceremonies, but they won’t be anti-Turkish. We don’t plan on raising anti-Turkish hysteria, especially since I respect the Turks. But we will make maximum efforts to have Turkey recognize the Armenian Genocide. I believe that will be up to many future generations of Armenians. In any case, I believe no generation should reject that,” the President of the Republic of Armenia said.

When asked if he could compare the incidents of the past and present, Serzh Sargsyan brought up several examples. “I believe it would be appropriate to mention the fact that the horrible flywheel of the Holocaust started spinning when the leader of the Second Reich announced the following question: ‘Who still talks nowadays of the extermination of the Armenians?’ It happened later as well. Let’s remember Cambodia. I can bring up several other examples. I can even bring up examples from current times, for instance, the events taking place in the Near East. What, aren’t they elements of genocide? A group of people have literally begun a search against another group of people with different religions and nationalities. They’re not only looking for people, but also the remembrance. They’re eradicating churches and bombing museums. I believe it is simply the duty of leading countries of the world to assume political obligations and in no way be subject to geopolitical calculations because the goal is sacred, that is, to disallow the annihilation of nations and the annihilation of people,” President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan emphasized.
