YEREVAN, MARCH 11, ARMENPRESS: The policy of the Turkish state to assimilate the Armenians and to forget their Armenian identity during the years of the Armenian Genocide and after it has seriously fractured. In different parts of Turkey, which were previously populated by Armenians, people begin remembering about their past and the real identity, trying to return to their roots.
We have become the witness of such a phenomena in Dersim, where the local Armenians began learning Armenian, as the first step of returning to their roots. Armenpress had a talk with the representative of the Armenian community of Dersim Miran Prkich, who presented the details of the Armenian courses, which have lasted for a monthand other programs as well, in which Dersim Armenians are involved.
“At present the courses of Armenian in Dersim are held three times a week, two hours each lesson. The number of the students is 15. The first stage of the courses will last two months. The teacher of our group is Tiran Lokmagyozyan”, - said Prkich, who is also among the Dersim Armenians, learning Armenian. Prkich added that in August, in the framework of the program “Come home”, a group of 50 Dersim Armenians will arrive in Yerevan.
