Japanese woman finds ¥1.9mln in secondhand furniture

YEREVAN, MARCH 6, ARMENPRESS: A woman who bought a piece offurniture froma secondhand store inthe south ofJapan got a surprise when she opened it tofind ¥1.9 million ($15,800) inside, Armenpress reports, citing NHK.

Police inHyogo Prefecture are looking forthe previous owner ofthe furniture, who brought it tothe shop where it was then bought bythe woman, who called police afterfinding the cash.

Staff inthe store, which is not being named bypolice inan effort tofind the genuine owner ofthe furniture, and cash, told officers they did not notice the money when the furniture was intheir possession.

If the owner ofthe furniture does not come forward, say authorities, then ownership ofthe money will transfer, afterthree months, tothe woman who found it.
