New U.S. Ambassador to Turkey speaks about the Armenian Genocide

YEREVAN, 6 FEBRUARY, ARMENPRESS.Newly appointed U.S. Ambassador to Turkey John Basshas declared that he can’t say what term U.S. President Barack Obama will use to describe the events of 1915 in his annual April 24thmessage to the Armenian people.
As “Armenpress” reports, in an interview with the Turkish NTV, Bass said recognition of the massacres and tragedies that took place in 1915“will be helpful for the Turks and the Armenians, as well as their generations”.When asked about Washington’s position on the Armenian Genocide Centennial, the Ambassador said he couldn’t comment on what expression the U.S. President or Congress will choose to describe those events and mentioned that the U.S. has not changed its policy on the events of 1915.
The Ambassador also emphasized that Turkey is one of “the most important partners” of the U.S.
