World's oldest man in Japan celebrates 112th birthday

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 5, ARMENPRESS. A Japanese man recognised as the world's oldest living male by Guinness World Records turned 112 Thursday.

As reports “Armenpress” citing The Nation, Sakari Momoi, a resident of Saitama city, north of Tokyo, responded with a smile as his family celebrated his birthday with him, the Kyodo News agency reported, citing his 66-year-old son Hiroo.

Momoi lives in a hospital in Tokyo. He enjoys his food, stays active and practices calligraphy, the family told Kyodo.

The family said they were "very happy that (Momoi) has reached the birthday safe and sound.

"The native of Minamisoma in Fukushima prefecture used to be an agricultural chemistry teacher and principal of public high schools in prefectures of Fukushima and Saitama.

The world’s oldest woman is Misao Okawa, a 116-year-old Japanese in Osaka.
