Armenian judge candidates for ECHR are eleven

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 24, ARMENPRESS: There are eleven candidates for the Armenian judge position at the European Court of Human Rights. The deadline for submitting a candidate’s application ended today at 18:00pm.

The Press Secretary of the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Tsovinar Khachatryan told Armenpress that the session of the contest commission will take place on Monday, after which the names of the three candidates, getting to the next stage, will be announced.

Earlier it was reported that all those, who correspond to the standards of the European CourtJudges, have about two weeks to apply to the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Armenia and submit documents for the position of an Armenian judge in theEuropean Court of Human Rights. The rector of the Academy of Justice, the member of the contest commission Ruben Melikyan told Armenpress that there will be a lot of applicants and the commission will work objectively and transparently. Professional skills, personal and moral qualities, knowledge of languages – these are the primary criteria that will guide the commission. In this case the commission has not set any new things: the standards are clearly stated in Europe.
