YEREVAN, AUGUST 12, ARMENPRESS. The Government of the Republic of Armenia seeks the best ways for more efficient delivery of the assistance to the Iraqi Yezidis which totals to 50 thousand dollars, Foreign Ministry spokesman Tigran Balayan said in an interview with “Armenpress”. "The amount is not yet transferred, we now seek ways how best to use these funds and conduct consultations on this matter with some international organizations", - Balayan said, stressing that a relevant message will be released on the assistance provided by the Government of Armenia to Iraqi Yezidis.
In a conversation with "Armenpress" the chairman of the National Association of the Yezidis "Sinjar" Boris Murazi noted that the assistance provided by the Armenian government will be forwarded to Iraq, most likely, with the support of the UN office.
At a press conference on August 10, referring to the situation of the Yezidis in Iraq, the Chairman of the Union of Yezidis Aziz Tamoyan, stressed that the terrorist group ISIS exterminates the representatives of national minorities, and they need help.
UNICEF reports, that in the last few days 40 Yezidi children were killed by the terrorist group ISIS. According to the data of the UN office in Iraq, over the past month, as a result of the actions of the militants, more than 500 Yezidis were killed and other 7,000 were injured.
