Two crypto Armenians from Diyarbakir were baptized in Holy Etchmiadzin

ETCHMIADZIN, AUGUST 5, ARMENPRESS. More than 50 crypto Armenians from Diyarbakir, Turkey (Tigranakert), with the support of the Ministry of Diaspora of the Republic of Armenia arrived in Armenia. On August 5 two of them were baptized in St. Mary's Church of Etchmiadzin.
Diyarbakir is considered one of the Kurdish regions in Turkey, inhabited also by a large numbers of ethnic Armenians who only recently have begun to speak out about their ethnic origin.
Rahim Karakash and Stepan Celik have made a decision to be baptized in Etchmiadzin. After being baptized they received the names Angel and Stepan.
Mrs. Angel said that she had yearned to be baptized and become a Christian for many years, and only in Armenia she made the final decision: "For many years I wanted to fight injustice and to become Christian Armenian. After visiting Armenia I was very excited and decided that it was the right time to fulfill my decision," she said
