Hrachya Harutyunyan sentenced to 6 years and 9 months in prison

YEREVAN, AUGUST 4, ARMENPRESS. The Moscow Troitsky court has sentenced Hrachya Harutyunyan, an Armenian truck driver, who was involved in a bus crash near Podolsk last summer that left 18 people dead and 40 others injured, to 6 years and 9 months in prison. As reports "Armenpress", citing Russian "Itar-Tass", Harutyunyan was sentenced in accordance with the articles 264 and 327 of the Russian Criminal Code.
After the court verdict was announced Harutyunyan's lawyer Ruben Margaryan said that he was going to appeal it. "I do not know whether we will appeal against the severity of the verdict, as it is up to Harutiunyan to decide it, but there will be an appeal against document forgery," he said.
As can be seen from the verdict of the court, Harutyunyan’s guilt in the violations of the traffic rules and the car driving rules is fully proven.
The accident happened on July 13, 2013 when aKamaz truck carrying rubble, at the intersection crashed into a bus with 64 passengers, following from Podolsk to Kurilovo.As a result of the accident 18 people were lost, 40 more got wounds.
