Amos Gitai sees similarities between Armenian and Jewish peoples

YEREVAN, JULY 15, ARMENPRESS. Renowned Jewish filmmaker Amos Gitai is in Armenia in the frames of "Golden Apricot" 11th International Film Festival. Gitai’s “Ana Arabia”, “Disengagement”, “Free Zone”, “Promised Land” films will be presented at the festival’s "Retrospectives" section.

During the July 15 press conference Gitai noted that he is for the first time in Yerevan and is happy to be here.

"I'm making films about identity. There are many parallels between the histories of the Armenian and Jewish nations, both have seen massacres and have a problem of lost territories. I have long thought about coming to Yerevan, having sympathy and compassion for the suffering Armenian people, who have a problem of conveying their pain to the world. The most beautiful district of Jerusalem is the Armenian one. As the world of cinema is like a family, I have also Armenian friends, like Egoyan and Getikyan, and today I am going to see different places here,” reports “Armenpress”, citing Amos Gitai.
