Agricultural products imported into Armenia are safe: SSFS advises to pay more attention to local products

YEREVAN, JULY 14, ARMENPRESS. The agricultural products imported into Armenia pass two expertise stages, and in case of finding pesticides or nitrates in them the consignment is sent back. This was said at the meeting with the reporters by the Head of Phytosanitary Inspection of the State Service of Food Safety of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Armenia Artur Nikoyan, assuring that the agricultural products imported into Armenia are safe. "This year, no significant violations were found in the imported products. There was only one case when in the imported watermelons nitrates dose exceeded the specified amount. However, in this case the import of the product into Armenia was suspended," as reports "Armenpress ", said Nikoyan.

According to him, the test system installed about a year ago in the border control points, allows to carry out surveillance of the amount of pesticides and nitrates in the imported products.
