Hovhannes Manukyan and John Heffern discussed judicial reform implementation issues

YEREVAN, JUNE 27, ARMENPRESS. The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Hovhannes Manukyan, today on June 27, received the delegation headed by the U.S. Ambassador to Armenia John Heffern. As “Armenpress” was informed from the Department of Information and Public Relations of the Ministry of Justice, the parties referred to the judicial reform priorities expected by the Government’s program. Closely speaking about the main commitments of the Ministry of Justice, stated in the Government’s program, Hovhannes Manukyan presented the possible formats and directions of the future cooperation. Referring to the ongoing judicial reforms, the Minister of Justice stressed the need for an independent and accountable judiciary.
Highlighting the introduction of the Probation Service in the Republic of Armenia, the parties discussed the issues of implementing significant reforms in the detention facilities. The interlocutors appreciated the current level of the cooperation and expressed eagerness to contribute to its further expansion and effectiveness.
