Armenia’s delegation raised Kessab issue at NATO Parliamentary Assembly

YEREVAN, JUNE 9, ARMENPRESS. The delegation of Armenia raised the issue of Kessab at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly. During a press conference, this was reported by the Head of the delegation of the National Assembly at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, RPA Faction MP Koryun Nahapetyan. "We raised Kessab related cases, presented the information we had about the support that Turkey offers the extremist forces. In this regard, there was an objection by the delegate of Turkey, saying that Turkey had not supported the radicals" – as reports "Armenpress", said Koryun Nahapetyan, adding that via this issue, they wanted to find out what steps could be taken by NATO, to stop such actions by its member country – Turkey.

Asked what the reaction of the NATO's representative was, Koryun Nahapetyan noted that after the objection of the Turkish delegate, there had been no reaction to the question at all.

The member of the delegation of Armenia at the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, "Heritage" faction member Tevan Poghosyan said that the NATO is an organization of 28 independent countries, where there is no tradition to offend a partner in any way. To try to anticipate that there someone would shake his finger, in plain text, on Turkey was senseless. Perhaps, it is done behind closed doors" - said Tevan Poghosyan , stressing that to raise the issue is already an important step.

From May 30 to June 1 the NATO Parliamentary Assembly's spring session was held in Vilnius.
