Armenia’s President talks to villagers suffered from frostbite in Avshar

AVSHAR, APRIL 28, ARMENPRESS. The residents of Avshar are inspired by the unexpected visit of the President of the Republic of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan and are happy that the state does not leave them alone to overcome the consequences of the nature’s disaster. Today, on his way to Ararat gold extraction of "GeoProMining" company President Serzh Sargsyan in Avshar community of the province met with the owners of those rural economies in the community whose gardening areas suffered from the severe frostbite from March 30 to April 1 this year.

Frosts and unexpected snow in March destroyed the lion's share of the harvest in village Avshar. Even fumigation did not save the villagers who assure that their work of one year has been equalized to zero. Apricot gardens of 130 hectares and grape gardens of 5 hectares are cultivated in the village. “The Apricot gardens were damaged by 100%, the grape ones by 80%”. The Head of the village Avshar Suren Grigoryan represented the data. According to him, all the necessary preparatory measures were taken together with the villagers to save the gardens, “but it was not possible to save the blown trees in the conditions of 8 degrees cold”.
