YEREVAN, MARCH 1, ARMENPRESS. An unprecedented amount of cocaine was discovered in Armenia on February 23. The Department of Fight against Smuggling and Double Customs Control of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia prevented the import of 3 kg of cocaine to the republic in the result of the operational search action. As reports “Armenpress”, this time it was not a citizen of the Islamic Republic of Iran, as it usually happens, but an Italian citizen, who brought the vast amount of drugs to Armenia via transit traffic from the Dominican Republic.
The Head of the Department of Fight against Smuggling and Double Customs Control of the State Revenue Committee of the Republic of Armenia Samvel Sanamyan stated that the 3 kg of cocaine they discovered is an unprecedented amount for entire activity of the Customs Service of the Republic of Armenia. The workers of the Department searched the luggage of Italian citizen Di Simone Valeriano and found the drugs in a secret hiding place.
According to the smuggler’s statement 3 kg cocaine costs USD 1,5 million.
