Economic activity increased by 3.5% in Armenia last year

YEREVAN, JANUARY 24, ARMENPRESS. Armenia’s economic activity index in January-December 2013 exceeded by 3.5 % the index of the same period of the previous year. “Armenpress” reports that National Statistical Service of the Republic of Armenia introduced preliminary main macro-economic indexes received by current –operative summary describing social-economic situation of the country. Growth was recorded in almost all sectors, except for construction and electric energy production. Compared with January-December 2012 the volume of services increased by 3.6 % last year and amounted to 917 billion 122.9 million AMD. The volume of grossproductionofagriculture increased by 6.1 % amounting to 1 trillion 022 billion 753.6 million AMD. Trade turnover increased by 1.2 % and amounted to 2 trillion 331 billion 138 million AMD.

The volume of industrial production amounted to 1 trillion 240 billion 578.7 million AMD, exceeding by 6.8% January-December 2012 index. Construction continues to decline, the volume of construction works decreased by 8.1 % compared with the previous year. Electricity production decreased by 4.3% (7 billion 710 million kW h), average monthly salary increased by 6.5 % (158 thousand 967 AMD). Volumeoftheforeigncommoditycirculation increased by 5.6% (5 billion 956.8 million U.S. dollars): moreover, exportation increased by 7.2 %( 1 billion 480 million U.S. dollars) while importation by 5.1% (4 billion 476.8 million U.S. dollars).
