Police never object to sound criticism: Deputy Chief of Armenia's Police

YEREVAN, DECEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS. The operative situation in the Republic of Armenia was sustainable and controlled in 2013. The Deputy Chief of Armenia's Police, Major-General Hunan Poghosyan stated this in an interview to “Armenpress” News Agency summing up the current year.

- Mr. Poghosyan, I would ask You to sum up the Police activity for 2013. What was the crime dynamics recorded at the course of the year?

- 17 thousand 548 cases have been recorded in the Republic. The cases of robbery have been decreased. In the end of the year the crimes against property have been increased by 341 cases. To a certain extent this is conditioned by the recent amnesty. It’s noteworthy that a number of republican events were held at the course of 2013 including presidential elections. A row of public events have been organized during the whole year - marches and rallies for instance, and the Police maintained the public order in a proper manner.

- One can frequently encounter criticism against the Police in the mass media by the participants of protest actions. What’s Your reaction to all of this?

- There have been some incidents and in all the cases we have conducted official investigations. It’s a pity, but frequently the complainers are those individuals, who used to act as provocateurs. The staff of Police has distinct instructions and they all know quite well their legal functions and never violate them. (THE FULL VERSION OF THE INTERVIEW IS AVAILABLE IN ARMENIAN)
