104 wanted people found in Interpol member countries

YEREVAN, NOVEMBER 6, ARMENPRESS: The 82ndsession of the General Assembly of the Interpol took place in the Republic of Columbia on October 21-25 attended as well by 142 Interpol member countries, including the delegation of the National Central Bureau of Interpol of Armenia, headed by Ara Fidanyan. The Armenpress correspondent talked to the Head of the National Central Bureau of Interpol of Armenia about the activities and the international cooperation of the structure.

- Mr. Fidanyan, 21 years is a serious term to sum up and evaluate the achievements.

- Armenia has been the member of the International Criminal Police Organization – Interpol, since November 4 1992 and within this period our country managed to become a full-pledged member of the Organization having one-century history. The Armenia’s National Central Bureau of Interpol is currently one of the best structures among the 190 member countries due to its highly organizational skills, efficient work, the high level of the professional preparedness of the staff and the technical equipment.

- With how many Interpol member countries do you cooperate and on which level is that cooperation? How do you evaluate the efficiency and with which countries the cooperation is stronger?

- The Armenia’s National Central Bureau of Interpol cooperates with all the member countries, though the main partners are 89 countries, from which the most active cooperation is with the Russian Federation, France, Germany, Turkey, the United States of America, Ukraine, Sweden, Poland, Georgia, Iran, Belgium, Netherlands and China.

-How many wanted by Armenia’s National Central Bureau of Interpol are there and how many of them have been discovered and returned to our country during the nine months of 2013?

- During the first nine months of the year of 2013 104 people were discovered in the Interpol member countries, 74 of which were arrested and 14 were extradited. (THE FULL VERSION OF THE INTERVIEW IS AVAILABLE IN ARMENIAN)
