Digitalization to provide high video and audio quality to consumers: G. Buniatyan

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 17, ARMENPRESS. The Republic of Armenia has adopted the policy of strengthening ties with the European countries in the sphere of the radio and television broadcasting. The participation of the National Commission on Television and Radio of the Republic of Armenia in the 38th meeting of the European Platform of Regulatory Authorities held in Vilnius in the beginning of October also proves this. "Armenpress" had a conversation with the Chairman of the National Commission on Television and Radio of the Republic of Armenia Gagik Buniatyan regarding the cooperation with the European countries and other issues as well.

- Following the Vilnius meeting of the European Platform of Regulatory Authorities held in the beginning of October, You also participated in the Regulators Forum organized by the International Institute of Communications (IIC). What is Your assessment of the participation and its results?

- The aforesaid forum was meant exclusively for the representatives of the regulatory bodies and it was a good opportunity to meet with the foreign colleagues, discuss issues regarding TV, radio, and new media sphere, recent developments, exchange experience, as well as find new ways of cooperation. All these, and the Black Sea Broadcasting Regulatory Authorities Forum (BRAF) annual meeting held in Kiev, Ukraine, served as a good occasion to introduce the changes, digitalization process, legislative reforms, and it was a fine arena to introduce our activity as well.

- 2015 will mark the digitalization process of TV and radio broadcasting in our country. What are You planning to do in that direction?

- The digitalization process is divided into two stages. The state's function in this process is to provide digital broadcasting, which implies access to the necessary technical conditions to provide the fluent realization of the process. Secondly, our TV companies must be ready for the digitalization process by 2015. I am confident that all the TV companies will be ready for digital broadcasting.
