Armenian died in Damascus bombing

YEREVAN, OCTOBER 7, ARMENPRESS: The central districts of Damascus were bombed on October 6 at noon. As Armenpress was reported by our compatriot, living in Damascus, Nazareth Elmajyan, more than 10 bombs have fallen on different parts of the districts. 8 people died and 40 were injured. According to Elmajyan, unfortunately the 55-year-old Armenian Shavarsh Gartatsoghyan was among the victims. The bombs fell on the residential houses, churches, schools and nearby the French hospital.

The Syrian SANA agency reports that the death toll of the terrorist attacks in the residential area of al-Qasa'a in Damascus rose to 8 in addition to 24 injured. The nearby shops, cars and residential houses suffered considerable damages.

By the UN data, during the two-year bloodshed in Syria since March 15 2011 more than 100 thousands of people have fallen victims. Currently 4,5 million refugees live in Syria and 1,5 million – in the neighboring countries. Several tens of Armenians have been killed in the result of the collisions. Notwithstanding that difficult situation, many Syrian Armenians continue leaving in Syria. The governmental forces try to liberate Aleppo from the opposition. Every day heated collisions and bombings are taking place, causing sufferings of the peaceful population, the Armenians as well. Several Armenians have been kidnapped.
