Albert Azaryan remains active and healthy even on the threshold of 85th birthday anniversary

YEREVAN, SEPTEMBER 26, ARMENPRESS. The best Armenian athlete of the 20th century, the Honorary Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of the Republic of Armenia Albert Azaryan is still engaged in the national sport issues. "Armenpress" News Agency had an interview with the legendary athlete.

- Mr. Azaryan the sport community will celebrate the 60th anniversary of Azaryan's legendary "cross" and Olympic victory of 1956 in three years. Don’t You ask Yourself how fast the time flies?

- The time flies despite our questions. You recalled my first Olympic victory in Melbourne, which was followed by another Olympic triumph in Rome in 1960. We'll celebrate my 85th birthday anniversary on February 11 of the upcoming year. It seems to me as if we celebrated my 80th birthday anniversary yesterday, notwithstanding the next jubilee is approaching now.

- Do You believe that the Armenian athletes will again win Olympic medals?

- I have dedicated my entire life to that objective. What's the goal of my life, if not that? The Armenian athletes managed to win the world cup and medals in the European championship even in the present difficult conditions, and that was very difficult to do.
