South Korea doubts over selling military equipment to Azerbaijan

YEREVAN, AUGUST 26, ARMENPRESS: Azerbaijan intends to but modern military equipment from South Korea including submarines. “Armenpress” reports that about this informs Hankook Ilbo periodical making a reference on it sources in South Korean Parliament. According to the information Azerbaijan spoke about its interest in buying weapons during the visit of Korean parliamentarians to Baku.

“Azerbaijan expressed wish to buy two submarines, warship, transport ship, T-50 planes, helicopters, fire control systems and other military equipment costing 3 billion USD,” is said in the statement mentioning that those offers are under the attention of Korean Government but Korean side has not given yet its consent for the deal.

Hankook Ilbo urges that Korean authorities are afraid that such supplies of weapons can villate the balance of forces in the region. South Korean foreign affairs ministry advised Azerbaijani Defense ministry “to show caution and restraint” when making decision.
