YEREVAN, AUGUST 26, ARMENPRESS: In the result of the explosions in Damascus an Armenian young man was killed. The incident occurred on August 24 as the result of the car explosion at the Al Qassaa District, which caused a death of one man and numerous wounded. Considerable damage was caused to the district. This was reported by Armenpress, quoting the Azdak Daily, published in Lebanon.
During the past week the elements of the Syrian army carried out military actions in some regions of Damascus to demolish the centers of the militant groupings. According to the official resources, a considerable number of militants were killed and their centers were destroyed. Many Armenian families live and work in the abovementioned regions, which were subjected to bombings.
As earlier was reported by Armenpress, in the result of the numerous bomb blasts by the oppositionist militants at the Al Qassaa District of Damascus two Armenians have been wounded. “The wounded are mother and son Mirna and Nazareth Torosyans. They were taken to the hospital and their condition is stable”, - said the resident of Damascus Nazareth Elmajyan. The district is mainly inhabited by Christians, Armenians as well.According to Nazareth Elmajyan, no Armenian was injured in the result of the possible use of chemical weapon nearby the Damascus districts.
Recently information has been spread that the Damascus nearby districts were bombed with Sarin nerve gas, which caused several hundreds of victims. The Syrian opposition accuses the governmental forces of the use of chemical weapon, whereas the official Damascus rejects the accusations qualifying them to be the rebels’ misinformation.
