YEREVAN, AUGUST 22, ARMENPRESS. Armenia Township supervisors have run into a glitch with their planned $10,000 donation to the new Guthrie Troy Community Hospital. The issue came up at the last township meeting. As reports "Armenpress" citing thedailyreview.com website, acting township secretary Abby Werlock wrote in the meeting minutes that "after checking with the township solicitor, it was revealed that townships can only donate $1 per permanent resident. Thus, the donation to the hospital of $10,000 has to be rescinded."
According to the Bradford County website, the total population of the township is 172 residents. In other business, it was noted that the stop signs for Cleveland/Dewey Hollow roads "are in and will be installed as time permits."
Regarding the maintenance building, supervisor Chad Harwick reported that the construction is on schedule. It was noted that he has spoken to the DeCristo company regarding the heating system and "is awaiting an estimate to determine what source of heat will be most economical."
On the Talisman work update, it was reported that fracking is completed at the Brelsford well pad.
The minutes note that Douglas Road was inspected, and Hawbaker contacted Harwick with an offer to donate gravel. Harwick is following up on it. Concerning the purchase of a new backhoe, Harwick gave a brief history of his research on purchasing a new backhoe.
Meanwhile, David Warner presented his option of taking in the current John Deere 544B Loader for $6,500, which will then go towards purchasing a new backhoe from Warner, according to the minutes. CAT offered $5,000 and JCB $6,000. The final cost of the backhoe will be $88,489, and a motion to purchase the backhoe from Warner Tractor was passed.
On the School House report, Abby Werlock reported that the new roof on the historic structure will be done in the fall. The next meeting will be in the fall. According to the minutes, Matt Riel again requested AES permission to use ATVs on township roads, and "the board once again stated this would not be allowed."
Concerning a "campground violation issue," the minutes note that an individual explained to the board the situation regarding a dilapidated trailer in the campground in the township. The minutes note that the supervisors agreed to send a letter stating this was in violation of a township ordinance and demand that the trailer and belongings be cleaned up.
The individual stated he has started the cleanup, and the supervisors will follow up within 30 days to make sure the cleanup has occurred, according to the minutes. Harwick made a motion to "ear-tagg" $45,000 towards the repair of Mountain Avenue in 2014. The motion passed.
Harwick a motion to purchase a snow plow from Bradco for approximately $9,000. The motion passed.
