Armenian deputy stresses the importance of Association agreement for economic growth

YEREVAN, AUGUST 1, ARMENPRESS: The publication of Armenia – European Union Association agreement is impossible. About this during press conference said deputy of Armenian National Assembly Gagik Minasyan. In his words only the signing sides can be familiar with its content. “Only signing sides can be familiar with the procedure of the agreement and its publication is impossible and Armenia cannot be exclusion,” mentioned Minasyan, reports “Armenpress”.

For economic development of Armenia Minasyan stresses the importance of singing the agreement as European integration has been and continues to be one of the main directions for economic development of our country. “We sign agreement on Deep and Comprehensive free trade area which is a part of Association agreement. It means that we will cooperate with European Union only partially and will not become member of Customs Union,” said Minasyan. Politician does not see any reason for suspension of the process. “It is greatly probable that the Association agreement will be signed in the end of November,” added Minasyan.

Negotiations on Association agreement between Armenia and European Union launched on July 19, 2010. The main document regulating relations of Armenia with European Union Partnership and Cooperation agreement became into force since 1999 and it will be changed by Association agreement. Economic integration, free movement and cooperation on energy issues will be reflected in it. The agreement will also have cooperation elements on foreign policy and security issues.
