Armenian premiere of “Saroyanland” to take place in framework of “Golden Apricot”

YEREVAN, JULY 8, ARMENPRESS: In framework of “Golden Apricot” festival will be shown films of “Armenian-Turkish film platform. About this said artistic director of the festival Susanna Harutyunyan during the press conference on July 8. She mentioned that will be shown also “Saroyanland” film. “It is very important film for the joint platform. Thw world premiere of the film took place in framework of Istanbul international festival. The film is one of the best samples of joint work,” she said, reports “Armenpress”. In her words since 2009 in support of Armenian-Turkish platform have been shot 13 films.
Author of “Saroyanland”, daughter of Hrant Dink, Lucin Dink explained the choice of the image with the fact that she found in Saroyan everything which feels each Armenian. The film shows the journey of Saroyan to Bitlis from where had migrated his parents. In the film are shown archive photos, materials and modern Bitlis,” said Dink.
The first Armenian-Turkish film platform took place in 2007. In 2010 Armenian-Turkish platform provided grants for eight short films of joint production.
On July 7 in Yerevan took place the opening ceremony of “Golden Apricot” international film festival. The festival will be held on July 7-14. The "Golden Apricot" Annual Film Festival was established in 2004 inYerevan, by the “Golden Apricot” Fund for Cinema Development, the Armenian Association of Film Critics and Cinema Journalists, supported by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Armenia, the Ministry of Culture of Republic of Armenia and Benevolent Fund for Cultural Development. Canadian-Armenian directorAtom Egoyanwas named President of the festival since 2005.
The Festival is dedicated to the theme of Crossroads of Cultures and Civilizations, and features a multitude of films representing various nations and religions, collectively depicting the richness of the human experience.
In 2005 the establishment of a network of filmmakers of the region entitled Directors Across Borders was initiated by the "Golden Apricot" Film Festival.
Since 2005 "Golden Apricot" has been functioning under the aegis of the European Cultural Parliament.
