"Gandzasar" – "Aktobe": 0:0 after the first half

YEREVAN, JULY 4, ARMENPRESS: In the Republican Stadium of Yerevan after Vazgen Sargsyan “Gandzasar” from Kapan is playing against “Aktobe” from Kazakhstan in framework of Europe League qualification round. The first half ended in draw 0:0. In the last minutes of the first half there were dangerous attacks but both clubs did not manage to score goals.

“Armenpress” reports that the teams now are resting for fifteen minutes and the second half will start at 20:00.

The response match between those two clubs will take place in Kazakhstan on July 11.

Gandzasar Football Clubis anArmenian footballclub based in the town ofKapan. Founded in 1963 the club plays in theArmenian Premier League, the top division in Armenian football. The home ground of Gandzasar is theGandzasar Stadium.

The club participated in the first everArmenian football competitionafter the split-up from theSoviet Unionunder the nameSyunik Kapan. After the regular competition they qualified for the championship stage, where they finished in sixth position. This way they qualified for the highest level in the 1993 season, however they withdrew before the start of the season. Since then they have been up and down in the Armenian football leagues. In 2004, Lernagorts attempted to merge withArarat Yerevan, but the merger failed.

Gandzasar spent two years playing in the Armenian First Division before finally getting promoted to theArmenian Premier Leaguefor the2006 season. The club also has a reserve team named Gandzasar-2, which now plays in theFirst Division.
