Criminal case instituted at polling station 11/32 for attempt to vote for several times

YEREVAN, MAY 5, ARMENPRESS: By the instructions of the prosecutor of the Shengavit administrative district a criminal case was instituted for the attempt to vote for several times at the polling station 11/32.As Armenpress was reported by the General Prosecutor’s Office of the Republic of Armenia, by the materials prepared by the Police it was defined that on May 5 2013 the citizen of the Shengavit administrative district Ghazar Mkrtchyan went to the polling station 11/32 to vote in the Yerevan City Council Elections and tried to vote for several times. He got two envelopes, in which there were two marked ballots, one in each. The voter could not manage to vote, as he was prevented by the chairman of the electoral commission.
A criminal case was instituted on the incident according to the 1stpart of the 34-153rdarticle of the Criminal Code of theRepublicofArmenia. A preliminary investigation is being carried out. The Police was instructed to clear out how the voter got two envelopes and two ballots.
The final number of the Yerevan voters is 816 475, about 3000 of which are not citizens of the Republic of Armenia, but have the right to vote (refugees, people having special residency status and those, who have permanent and temporary residence status).
The voting will end at 20:00. The preliminary results of the voting will be summed up at 20:00 on May 6. The final report will be made on May 12, seven days after the voting day.
The voting for the Yerevan City Council Elections has been launched on May 5. At 08:00 am all the 464 electoral offices were open in 13 electoral districts. The campaign was launched on April 7 and ended on May 3. The political forces struggle for 65 places in the Yerevan Council. 26 local and 1 international organizations will carry out observing mission during the Yerevan City Council Elections.
The necessary documents for the elections were submitted to the Central Electoral Commission by 6 parties and one alliance - Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), The Rule of Law, Prosperous Armenia Party (PAP), Armenian National Congress (ANC), Mission Party, Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) and Hello,Yerevan.
