Bashar al-Assad highlighted Armenians’ loyalty to Syrian land

YEREVAN, APRIL 22, ARMENPRESS: The President of Syria Bashar Hafez al-Assad spoke about the Armenian people with praise. In Damascus he received different delegations representing various parties from Lebanon and presenting the challenges the country faced, the President of Syria highlighted the loyalty, mentioning the Lebanese and Armenian communities of Syria in particular.
As reported by Armenpress, quoting the Arab As-Safir News Agency, Bashar al-Assad noted that the Armenians did not leave Lebanon during the civil war and today as well they stuck to the Syrian land, notwithstanding the current crisis. “Though the Armenians are Christians, they could have got mixed with the Arab environment and have a significant positive impact on Lebanon and Syria”, - said the Syrian President.
During the two-year bloodshed in Syria about 70 thousands of people have fallen victims. About fifty Armenians have been killed. Notwithstanding that difficult situation, many Syrian Armenians continue leaving in Syria.
