YEREVAN, MARCH 29, ARMENPRESS. Abolishing Daylight Saving Time in Armenia is justified. The population is no longer obliged to put a clock on back for an hour on the last Sunday of March.

In a conversation with "Armenpress" the Deputy Minister of Economy Garnik Badalyan stated that the territory of the Republic of Armenia is entirely located in the third international time zone and because of passing to the Daylight Saving Time the country strays from its geographic time zone for two hours. Among other things Garnik Badalyan noted that the wide circles of the society did not protest against the change and in this respect there have not been recorded any difficulties and thus they consider the change justified.

Geographically Armenia is located in GMT+3 time zone, but in 1930s alongside with other Soviet countries Armenia had to change the time zone and appeared in GMT+4 time zone. Furthermore, during summer period Armenia appeared in GMT+5 time zone, that’s to say it strayed from its geographic time zone for 2 hours.
