YEREVAN, MARCH 21, ARMENPRESS. The issue of prisoners sentenced to death is not included in the regulation of the agreement on handing over convicts singed between the Republic of Armenia and the Islamic Republic of Iran in Tehran on November 2012. The Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Yeghishe Karapetyan stated this during the March 21 session of the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.
Among other things the Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Armenia Yeghishe Karapetyan noted: "This agreement is solely about the Armenians and Iranians convicted to imprisonment. Those individuals, who are sentenced to death, are out of the procedure of regulation in accordance with this agreement." The Deputy Minister stated this while answering the question put forward by the "Heritage" fraction deputy Alexander Arzumanyan. Yeghishe Karapetyan also noted that recently Armenia has handed more than two dozens convicts over to Iran and a decision has been made about handing over other 7 other convicts as well.
