YEREVAN, MARCH 7, ARMENPRESS. The appraisals of the European Court of Human Rights on Gourgen Margaryan's case, who was brutally murdered by Azerbaijani criminal Ramil Safarov, will be harsh. The Director of “Protection of Rights without Borders” NGO, lawyer of Gourgen Margaryan’s family and Hayk Makuchyan introducing their interests in the European Court of Human Rights Siranush Sahakyan stated this during the press conference held on March 7. As reports "Armenpress" Siranush Sahakyan stated: "To my opinion the court’s appraisal will be harsh. This case is of a certain importance in the respect of the development of human rights standards in general." Also the lawyer mentioned that they have sent a claim to Azerbaijan to hand over the criminal to the third country to continue his incarceration.
Among other things the lawyer laid a heavy emphasis on the fact that Gorugen Margaryan’s family members refused the material and moral compensation, as nothing can compensate the loss of their son.
Criminal Ramil Safarov was sentenced to life imprisonment in Hungary for murdering Armenian army lieutenant Gourgen Margaryan with an axe. He was extradited to Azerbaijan on August 31, 2012, where he was pardoned by Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliev on the very day he arrived in Azerbaijan.
