Security factor provides people's support to Serzh Sargsyan: Le Figaro

YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 19, ARMENPRESS. Prominent French periodical Le Figaro published an article dedicated to the Armenian presidential elections. As reports "Armenpress" the article states: "During the victorious war of Nagorno Karabakh against Azerbaijan, Serzh Sargsyan was the Minister of Defense. This war remains to be a source of patriotic inspiration since the independence of this former Soviet republic. He also was the Minister of the Interior and before assuming "the highest office" in 2008, he was the Prime Minister in 2007.

His policy of establishing closer relations with the EU has one big advantage: it does not compel Moscow to take measures for counteraction, which can be sure about the honesty of its Southern neighbor due to the military presence.

The Press Spokesman of the presidential party Edward Sharmazanov stated: 'We do not choose merely a president, but Chief Commander of the Armed Forces as well.'"

Armenian presidential elections were held on February 18. There were seven contenders running for president in the Republic of Armenia. In accordance with the preliminary results Serzh Sargsyan has been re-elected.
