YEREVAN, FEBRUARY 7, ARMENPRESS. On February 6 an Armenian was killed in New Village district of Aleppo. The Press Secretary of the Armenian National Prelacy of Aleppo Jirair Reisian stated this in a conversation with "Armenpress". In addition he said that 60-year-oldArmenianartisan Andranik Avetisian was shot dead by a sniper.
Among other things Jirair Reisian spoke about the current situation in Aleppo and stated that no accidents have been recorded recently. The situation in the Armenian-populated districts is much better, but one can always encounter unpleasant surprises. Economic issues are still of a great concern in the city. The electricity is supplied to the people only for few hours a day, internet and telephone connection also do not function properly.
Our compatriot living in the capital city of Syria Damascus Nazaret Elmajian informed us that currently situation in the capital is calm; fortunately no accidents have been recorded.
In accordance with the UN data clashes lasting about 23 months in Syria caused death of over 60 thousand people, including more than four dozens Armenians.
