Tigran Petrosyan dreams of becoming one of top 20 chess players of the world

YEREVAN, JANUARY 22, ARMENPRESS. Chess Champion of Armenia Tigran L. Petrosyan has a number of bright and radiant dreams. The Twice Olympic champion promises to spare no effort to record new achievements. "Armenpress" introduces twice chess champion of Armenia Tigran L. Petrosyan’s first interview of the current year.

- Which was the most notable game of the Armenian chess championship for You?

- The first two games were of a certain importance for me. Arman Pashikyan and Hrant Melkumyan were my opponents in the first tours of the championship and I am quite sure that if they had won the result would be the same, only this time on their behalf. Only after defeating Arman Pashikyan and Hrant Melkumyan I realized that I can keep the champion's title.

- Now You have already become the champion, what are Your expectations from the current year?

- This will be a quite interesting year. Together with the team I shall partake in the team championships of the world and Europe. Also there are a number of other tournaments and individual championships as well; among them we can recall the tournament of Europe. I shall try to be active in all the tournaments.

- Which is Your favorite chess figure?

- It's a little relative, as there is a strict gradation of power – queen, rook, bishop, horse… Notwithstanding, I prefer horse. (THE FULL VERSION OF THE INTERVIEW IS AVAILABLE IN ARMENIAN)
