YEREVAN, JANUARY 15, ARMENPRESS: Armenian grandmaster Levon Aronian was unexpectedly defeated by Viswanathan Anand during 75th Tata Steel Chess Tournament in Wijk aan Zee.
Armenpress reports Aronian was defeated by World Chess Champion on the 40th step playing whites.
Aronian ended in a tie with Van Wely, Carlsen and Harikrishna.
Levon Aronian is the current champion of Tata Steel.
